Marking the end of your reproductive years, menopause is marked when a woman has gone twelve consecutive months without a menstral cycle. This occurs when a woman's ovaries stop making estrogen. This is a normal part of aging and on average happens around the age of 51, however can occur in women in their 40's as well into their late 50's.
Menopause can bring about various side effects such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, osteporosis, sleep problems and more. Hormone therapy can be beneficial for most women.
